'People are intimidated' - why 'unstoppable force' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

The evidence is unmistakable why Arsenal have become many people's preferred choice to secure the Premier League in the current campaign.

Consider their results against Newcastle and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches last season.

The Gunners have beaten all of them during this campaign, but lost 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race last season.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a key reason why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title goal.

They stand first for unbreached games (6), goals conceded (3), attempts against (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the best in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their threat from set-pieces is widely recognized, but competing clubs still struggle to stop the Gunners from these chances.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just fearful of them and it is great to see."

Title Potential

What is even more remarkable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City at home - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they maintain victories, their historic competitors are struggling. This marks the premier instance at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the start, having spent around £250m on eight summer additions in quest of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far yielded results in style, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and possessing the tightest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Clean sheets in three consecutive Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without letting in a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and pundits have labeled Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with confidence and determination.
